Higher Education and Academic Positions

After earning an M.A. in British history at Lyon 3 University in 2010, I received my PhD in British history in 2016 from Lyon 2 University. During my PhD, my research focused on the involvement of Scottish people in the British Caribbean in the 18th and 19th centuries, more particularly in Jamaica and Dominica. I have published several articles related to the transatlantic slave trade, colonial medicine and anti-abolitionist campaigners in Scotland in the 19th century.

Between 2016 and 2018, I was the editor of the online academic journal Books & Ideas. Since 2018, I have been a Senior Lecturer in British History in the department of English Studies at Sorbonne University. I teach British history and politics to undergraduate students and supervise master's students on various topics (Scottish history, the history of the British Empire and the history of science).

For the past three years, I have been working on the history of the first Glasgow Botanic Gardens (1817-1841), with a special focus on their imperial connections.
